She traveled with a select group of nursing professionals on a 15 day tour of hospitals and other health related facilities in the Peoples Republic of China in 1981 as part of the People-to-People program. She was also a member of the Professional Nursing Ethics Committee, Council on Nursing Education and Advisory Committee for the Nurse Education program of Middlesex County College. She held leadership positions in both the New Jersey League for Nursing and New Jersey State Nurses Association. May was an active member of national and state nursing associations. ![]() She retired when the school closed in 1987 and in retirement wrote a history of the school. Peter's Medical Center School of Nursing in 1958 and served as Associate Director of Nursing Education for ten years before being named the Director of the School of Nursing in 1969. May received a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum Development in Basic Professional Nursing from Columbia University in 1955 and was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the National Honor Society in Education. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing as a clinical instructor and then became the Nursing Arts instructor. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education at St. Peter's High School and became a registered nurse after attending St. She was 91.īorn and raised in New Brunswick she lived in North Brunswick and the Somerset section of Franklin Township before moving to Milltown in 1994.
